EtonHouse International School at Thomson is an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School offering an exceptional programme from playgroup through to the primary years. Our play-based, inquiry-based approach is strongly influenced by the educational projects of the Reggio Emilia, in Italy. The understanding and belief that education must be driven by current research and best practice underpin all that we do at Thomson.
An outstanding foundation
Playgroup – The parent-accompanied ‘Stay & Play’ programme is designed specially for children from 9 to 22 months. With a range of physical, social, musical and sensorial experiences set up by our highly qualified early childhood educators, the children explore and engage in a rich and stimulating learning environment.
Early Years – With a thoughtfully considered settling in process that respectfully introduces young children to a new environment beyond their experience of family and home, our Pre-Nursery and Nursery 1 programmes provide a highly individualised transition into a child’s first experience of pre-school. The EtonHouse Inquire.Think.Learn curriculum framework adopted in the Pre-Nursery and Nursery 1 classes focuses on a holistic development of each individual child.
The Early Learner within the PYP in our Nursery 2, Kindergarten 1 and Year 1 (ages 3 to 6) programme supports strong relationship building, play and inquiry within spaces that are responsive to the learner and the importance of symbolic exploration and expression.
Primary Years – The interdisciplinary nature of the IB PYP promotes deeper and richer thinking of issues, with our Year 2 and Year 3 primary students taking strong ownership and responsibility of their learning. Developing learner agency and international-mindedness within our community of learners forms the core of our school culture here at Thomson. With a year-on-year expansion all through to Year 6, the campus is now open for our Year 4 intake and admissions for the new academic year in August 2018.
After their primary years here at EtonHouse Thomson, students have education pathways through to Secondary and High School at our other EtonHouse campuses.
Strong dual-language programme
EtonHouse Thomson offers a truly integrated bilingual programme across all year levels, with an English and Mandarin teacher working alongside the children in both languages throughout the day. Play and inquiry is a powerful tool and motivation for learning and by drawing upon the children’s interests, our educators encourage the experimentation and exploration of different aspects of both English and Mandarin languages. We strongly believe in developing communicators who have a love of the languages and use languages effectively to connect with others, to share their perspectives and to build relationships.
An innovative natural learning environment
Occupying 200,000 sq ft, EtonHouse Thomson sets new standards in the design of learning environments in Singapore. We recognise and value the need for our learning spaces to be responsive and inspiring. Our environments are designed and set up with the elements of aesthetics and intentionality in mind. Over and above this, we believe that our environments must communicate our respect for children and their ideas.
Our indoor learning spaces include the Visual Arts Studio, Tinkering Studio, Construction Studio as well as the Computer Studio. The campus also houses a beautiful Light & Sound Studio, which is an extensive project undertaken by an atelierista from Reggio Emilia. Other facilities include a multi-purpose sports hall, an outdoor basketball and tennis court as well as a swimming pool. The school is surrounded by lush greenery with natural settings that foster the children’s respect for nature and their developing understanding of sustainability. Environments reflect the culture and values of the people within it. We would like to invite you and your family to visit our school and that through our environments and interactions, you become acquainted with and learn more about who we are as a school community.
Give your child the very best education and care in the early and primary years.
