Inspired by her university mentor, literacy crusader Dr Jo Stanchfield, June Imada Lee developed a passion for raising readers, writers and thinkers.
As President of the Society for Reading and Literacy (Singapore), June helped organise the first Asian Reading Congress, as well as the Visiting Authors Programme, which took American children’s authors such as Jack Gantos and Paula Danziger on a tour of primary schools in Singapore.
In 1997, June co-founded LiteracyPlus. The company quickly became an enrichment provider trusted by HODs for quality programmes and reliable service. To date, it has touched the lives and minds of over 185,000 students in 185 schools islandwide.
2006 marked the opening of the LiteracyPlus Enrichment Centre, where lessons are conducted in small classes and a warm, nurturing environment. As always, programmes are supported by solid curriculum and dedicated, qualified teachers.
Just as how one teacher made a great impact on her life, June hopes to do the same at LiteracyPlus, by helping students discover worlds beyond the classroom and unleashing their potential.
