Smt Gowri Gokul doesn’t need much publicity, as she is well known in the music circle in Singapore. She has been in Singapore since 2000 and was associated with SIFAS, and Temple of Fine Arts and SYAMA. She founded the School “ Traditional Music of Tanjore, Singapore” in 2007 and has been teaching music to students since.
She is the direct disciple of Sangeeta Kalanidhi Late Sri. T M Thiagarajan. Sri. Thiagarajan himself studied under Rajya Seva Nirata. Sangeetha Kalanidhi. Dr.Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, considered one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century. She has been conferred the Title “ Sangeetha Ratna” by the Music Academy of Chennai.
Prior to coming to Singapore, she had been teaching Carnatic music in Chennai, and is also a Graded Artist in AIR- Chennai.
